On May 28, the 2025 High-Level Academic Conference on Public Health was held at the Fenghua Hall of Anzhong Building, Ningbo University. Professor Zhan Siyan, Dean of the School of Public Health at Peking University, and Professor Ding Gangqiang, former Director of the National Institute for Nutrition and Health at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Chair of the National Nutrition and Health Expert Committee, were invited to deliver keynote reports. The conference was chaired by Professor Xu Guozhang, Vice Dean of the Ningbo University Health Science Center and Dean of the School of Public Health. Over 80 attendees included faculty and staff from the School of Public Health, representatives from preventive medicine practice bases under the Health Science Center, and graduate and undergraduate student delegates.
During the conference, Professor Zhan Siyan presented an academic report titled Advances in Methodology for Pharmacoepidemiology Research. She systematically elaborated on the research framework and core methodologies of pharmacoepidemiology, emphasizing the latest applications and challenges in pharmacovigilance across the entire drug lifecycle, real-world data utilization, signal detection and evaluation models, and big data technologies in adverse drug reaction monitoring. Drawing on national major scientific research projects, she proposed key scientific questions and methodological innovation directions for future development. Professor Ding Gangqiang delivered a report titled Rational Diet Promotes the Construction of Healthy China. By referencing the Report on Nutrition and Chronic Disease Status of Chinese Residents and the Dietary Guidelines for Chinese Residents (2022), he analyzed trends in China's nutritional status and their impacts on overweight, obesity, and chronic diseases. He stressed the importance of the "healthy weight" concept and proposed intervention pathways for rational dietary practices.
The conference fostered a strong academic atmosphere and lively interactive exchanges. Participants noted that the experts' reports broadened their horizons and deepened their understanding of core public health issues such as nutritional health and drug safety, offering significant cutting-edge insights and practical guidance.
Leveraging this high-level academic event, the School of Public Health at Ningbo University will continue to advance key strategic areas, including "One Health Science and Engineering," "Field Epidemiology," and "Healthcare Big Data." It aims to enhance research capabilities, expand academic influence, support regional health development, and contribute to the modernization of China's public health governance system and capacity.
