On the morning of September 9, a delegation led by Fangyan Chen, Director of a Department under the New South Wales Ministry of Health, Katrina MARTIN, Director of Sydney Health Executive Education at the University of Sydney’s Faculty of Medicine and Health, and Daniel THURLEY, Academic Director, visited the Medical College of Ningbo University. Liu Yu, Executive Director of the Medical College, Cai Jiemin, Secretary-General of the Ningbo International Talent Exchange Association, and doctor representatives from 5 local hospitals attended the exchange meeting. Both parties held discussions on deepening international cooperation in the medical field and promoting medical education as well as the training of clinical faculty.
At the meeting, Liu Yu extended a warm welcome to the University of Sydney delegation and briefly introduced the relevant situation of the Medical College of Ningbo University. Representatives of the first group of doctors who had gone to Australia shared their experiences and gains during their studies there. Representatives from the University of Sydney introduced their own advantages and expressed expectations for cooperation. During the exchange, the two sides also discussed topics such as medical education, faculty training, and scientific research cooperation.
It is reported that the Medical College has previously promoted a program for clinical faculty to pursue further studies in Australia. In 2025, two batches of 33 clinical teaching teachers were selected to study at the University of Adelaide and the University of Sydney. The further study program covers rich content, including skill learning and clinical observation in hospitals, which realizes the integration of clinical services and medical teaching, effectively improves teachers’ capabilities, and provides support for internationalized education.
This visit by the University of Sydney delegation not only affirms the achievements of previous cooperation but also builds a bridge for broader and deeper cooperation between the two sides in the future. Going forward, the Medical College of Ningbo University will continue to adhere to the concept of international development, strengthen exchanges and cooperation with overseas universities and medical institutions, enhance the quality of medical education and the level of clinical practice, and contribute to cultivating high-quality medical talents and promoting the development of the medical field.
