To further implement the spirit of the national policies on deepening the reform of postgraduate education and promote the high-quality development of professional degree postgraduate education at Ningbo University, a special research symposium on the training of Master of Clinical Medicine was held at the First Affiliated Hospital of Ningbo University on the afternoon of June 20. Lv Chaofeng, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Ningbo University, led a delegation to conduct the research. Principal responsible persons from the Development and Planning Department, Discipline Construction Department, Graduate School, and Medical College of Ningbo University attended the symposium, along with persons in charge of the First Affiliated Hospital of Ningbo, Affiliated Lihuili Hospital, and Affiliated People's Hospital, as well as heads of relevant academic degree programs. The symposium focused on the existing problems in the current training of professional master's students, centered on the goal of classified training of postgraduates, extensively solicited opinions, built consensus, and explored ways to optimize the training path so as to enhance the practical ability and comprehensive quality of professional talents.
At the symposium, the person in charge of the Medical College in charge of postgraduate education gave a systematic report on the overall institutional framework of the current training for Master of Clinical Medicine, covering enrollment policies, curriculum design, supervisor management, practical teaching, and other aspects. Based on the implementation over recent years, the report analyzed the shortcomings and challenges in the current mechanism and put forward suggestions such as optimizing the enrollment structure, strengthening process management, and refining training standards. The person in charge of the First Affiliated Hospital comprehensively presented the practical experience and achievements of the hospital in the training of professional master's students from the perspectives of base scale, system construction, faculty strength, and training management, and put forward improvement suggestions on issues such as the medical-education collaboration mechanism and the personalized development path for students. During the discussion session, participants from relevant academic degree programs including Public Health, Pharmacy, Medical Technology, Internal Medicine, and Surgery discussed how to further improve the research capabilities of supervisors and the quality of postgraduate training.
Lv Chaofeng pointed out that promoting the classified training of postgraduates is an inevitable requirement for improving the quality of high-level applied talent training in the new era. It is also a key measure to implement the "Medical Peak Plan" of the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, promote the high-quality development of the medical sector of the university, and comprehensively enhance the quality of high-level medical talent training. It is essential to adhere to practical ability as the core, optimize the training structure, improve the institutional system, and strive to build a talent training model that conforms to the characteristics of professional degrees. He emphasized that the current training of Master of Clinical Medicine is faced with many challenges in aspects such as teaching management, academic evaluation standards, and student management models. It is urgent to enhance students' practical ability and post competency through the reform of classified training. The university will learn from the successful experience of high-level medical colleges and universities at home and abroad, strengthen the medical education system, especially the systematic construction of professional degree postgraduates, and fully formulate and implement a new classified training program.
This symposium is a key opportunity to promote the leapfrog development of medical education at Ningbo University, marking that the reform of classified training for Master of Clinical Medicine has entered a stage of substantive advancement.
