On the afternoon of June 16, Ningbo University Health Science Center hosted the 2025 PhD Graduate Symposium under the theme "Advancing Together in Medicine, Envisioning the Future." The event was attended by Wang Qianyong, Executive Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee; Ye Meng, Deputy Director; Chen Lixia, Deputy Director of the Work Committee for the Care of the Next Generation; Zhang Lina, committee member; department heads; and all 2025 PhD graduates. Zhang Wei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, presided over the symposium.
During the meeting, PhD student representatives shared their reflections and growth during their studies at Ningbo University, recounting their academic journeys with gratitude toward mentors, peers, and the institution. Lively discussions centered on topics such as academic research, career planning, and social responsibility followed. Faculty members offered practical advice based on their experiences, providing valuable guidance for the graduates' future development.
A highlight of the symposium was the "Five Elders" Humanities Lecture, where two veteran educators delivered a heartfelt speech infused with humanistic care. Drawing from their rich life experiences and profound insights, they encouraged graduates to uphold medical ethics and embrace social responsibility in their future careers.
In his address, Ye Meng commended the graduates for their academic achievements and urged them to remain steadfast to the Hippocratic oath: "Health entrusted, lives committed." He emphasized the importance of serving patients with professional expertise and compassion.
Wang Qianyong concluded the symposium by highlighting the graduates' imminent transition to a new life chapter. He stressed the need to embody Ningbo University's spirit of "seeking truth from facts and applying knowledge to practical use," contributing to society through exceptional medical skills and integrity. As medical professionals in the new era, he called on them to balance professional excellence with ethical conduct, advancing the Healthy China Initiative.
