Author: Yang Chenxi Date: 2025-06-11

In the evaluation for the 7th Round Volunteer Service Project Cultivation and Development Program organized by the Zhejiang Provincial Red Cross Society, the project "Red Heart Protects Youth · Medicine Accompanies Children: Health Care Initiative for Left-Behind Children in Dongwu Town under the 'University-Town' Model" submitted by Ningbo University Health Science Center stood out among numerous excellent entries across the province. Recognized for its innovative design, rigorous needs assessment, and sustainable service model, the project was selected as a Category II university social practice initiative.

Rooted in addressing the health needs of left-behind children in Dongwu Town, Yinzhou District, the project leverages the medical expertise of Ningbo University to establish a "trinity service system":

Gamified Health Education: Popularizing disease prevention knowledge through interactive formats such as situational dramas and health-themed challenge games.

Immersive Psychological Empowerment: Introducing innovative tools like the "Emotion Magic Box" and "Peer Support Groups" to alleviate children's psychological stress.

Practical Emergency Training: Collaborating with the Red Cross Society to train "Junior First Responders," filling gaps in emergency skills among the target group.

The project aims to serve over 300 left-behind children, facilitating the integration of university resources into rural communities and embodying the Red Cross spirit of "humanity, universal love, and dedication."

This summer, the Health Science Center will further advance project implementation by deeply integrating medical professional practice with rural revitalization efforts. It will provide sustainable health support for left-behind children in township areas while exploring a replicable "university-empowered rural development" volunteer service model, contributing Ningbo University's strength to safeguarding the healthy growth of youth.
